Daniel Dubois’ team set target return date and opponent as he eyes huge fight

Daniel Duboisboxing return is being targeted within the first five months of 2026.

Dubois has been out of action since he fought Oleksandr Usyk in July 2025.

The Brit was on a three-fight win streak heading into his rematch with Usyk, but was brutally stopped in the fifth round.

‘DDD’ has since made changes to his team following the loss, which included bringing Sam Jones onboard as his manager.

Jones has now revealed when fans can expect to see the former IBF world heavyweight champion lace up the gloves again and who he is targeting upon his return.

He told IFL TV: “He’ll be back out very soon. April, [at the] latest May…

Fabio Wardley is the champion, so it would be a voluntary defence.

“But outside of AJ, Tyson Fury, Usyk – Dubois is the biggest name for Fabio Wardley to fight, which would therefore generate the most money.

“If Fabio Wardley gets the Usyk fight then all credit to him, he deserves that opportunity.

“But, if he wants to make that fight, we can make it very, very quickly.”

Ever since Wardley was upgraded to the WBO heavyweight champion, a number of leading names have emerged as potential candidates for his first defence.

The Ipswich puncher has found himself linked to some of the biggest heavyweight names, from Fury to Anthony Joshua.

Is Daniel Dubois likely to fight Fabio Wardley?

Wardley is set to fight in April, which could work within the timeframe that Jones has given for Dubois’ comeback.

While neither man has announced their next opponent, a match-up between the promotional stablemates would make sense.

Their promoter, Queensberry’s Frank Warren, was asked on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan to cast his verdict.

He said: “I don’t know, we are talking at the moment to both sides.

“I love that fight, I think it’s a cracking fight between the two of them.

“Two big punchers, that would be exciting.”
