The Houston Texans‘ offense has been fairly disappointing this season. C.J. Stroud, even when healthy, hasn’t looked as sharp as he did in his rookie campaign, and with all the key injuries, the team hasn’t had a primary playmaker, either.

However, the offensive line has certainly stepped up. After watching them crumble to pieces in every dropback last season, the front office made some tough decisions, even trading Laremy Tunsil to the Washington Commanders.

The Texans’ offensive line was a talking point for all the wrong reasons again to start the season. Fortunately, they turned the corner and have looked much better in the past couple of months.

With that in mind, their quarterback gave them their flowers. Talking ahead of Sunday’s divisional matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, Stroud tipped his hat to his protectors:

“It’s cool to see big Trent out there, Ed coming back, Jake always playing solid and Tytus being an anchor, playing a lot of positions and doing them all very well,” Stroud said. “Then Tae, another rookie who has rose to the occasion and done a really good job these last couple weeks. I’m just proud of that unit and I’m excited to be back with them.”

Stroud isn’t a mobile quarterback. He’s not a threat to roll out of the pocket and pick up yards with his legs. As such, he needs to have a clean pocket to be at his best.

The former Ohio State star will finally take the reins of the team after suffering a concussion. Davis Mills has done a solid job in his replacement, and the Texans are right back in the mix for a playoff spot.

This team probably has the best defense in all of football. That’s terrible news for Daniel Jones, who will reportedly play through a broken fibula. And if the offensive line holds up as well, the Colts could be in a lot of trouble.
