Canelo Alvarez vs Chris Eubank Jr could still happen claims promoter after fight was ‘nailed on’
Ben Shalom is still confident Chris Eubank Jr will get the opportunity to face Canelo Alvarez.
Eubank Jr and Alvarez were being eyed for a huge 168lbs world title clash last year.

But the pair both suffered respective defeats, with Eubank Jr being outpointed in his rematch with Conor Benn, and the Mexican losing his titles to Terence Crawford.
The Briton also suffered with health issues, as shown in footage he stared from hospital treatment he received surrounding his two fights with Benn.
It initially plunged his future into doubt, but it was subsequently revealed the 36-year-old is targeting a return to boxing at super-middleweight after making a full recovery.
In a new update on Eubank Jr’s future, his promoter Shalom believes that a showdown with the Mexican remains on the table.
He explained: “He would have [fought Canelo if he beat Benn].
“It’s funny how boxing works, but had he beaten Conor Benn, that fight was nailed on.
“So it’s a big thing to have lost, but I still believe that fight will happen. I really do. I think it’s a [good fight].
“You never know, you never know. It might work [as next fight]. We’re focused on the next fight.
“It might work out, but we’ll see.”
Could Canelo vs Eubank Jr really happen next?
For the Mexican, he was forced to have surgery after losing to Crawford and is currently out of action.

He has announced he will return in September in partnership with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh.
The chances of the pair meeting currently seem slim while Eubank Jr resolves his future.
Focus for Eubank Jr is restoring back to full physical health, having looked a shadow of himself in his rematch against Benn.
Though talkSPORT’s Simon Jordan believes his career is over.
He said: “It’s what’s left of him as a fighter.
“And at super-middleweight, you’ve got Terence Crawford now vacated, you’ve got Canelo as a declining force.

“But I think if he takes a meaningful fight in that division, like against someone like Hamzah Sheeraz, he loses all day.
“So, whilst we enjoy Chris Eubank Jr because he is a spectacle, he’s press conference gold.
“As a fighter, I think that’s all done.”
