Bryce Young throws brutal INT to Rams DB Cobie Durant

The Carolina Panthers are hosting the Los Angeles Rams in the Wild Card round. It’s Carolina’s first home playoff game since the team reached the Super Bowl in 2015. Panthers fans are hyped for the matchup against the heavily favored Rams. But Carolina quickly ran into trouble.

Los Angeles jumped out to an early lead with a touchdown drive on its first possession. But the Panthers had a chance to even things up late in the first quarter. Bryce Young got the team going, leading a promising eight-play drive. But as the Panthers advanced into Rams territory, Young threw into heavy traffic and was intercepted by Cobie Durant.

The Rams quickly capitalized on the turnover, scoring on a Puca Nacua run seven plays later. The touchdown put Los Angeles up 14-0 early in the second quarter.

The Panthers snuck into the playoffs with an 8-9 record. Carolina had an opportunity to secure its first winning season in eight years and clinch the NFC South with a victory in Week 18. But the team lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the rain-drenched regular season finale.

However, the Panthers picked up their first division title in a decade when the Atlanta Falcons defeated the New Orleans Saints last Sunday. Carolina owned the tiebreaker over the Bucs and the Falcons, as all three teams finished with 8-9 records.

The Panthers limped into the playoffs after closing the season by losing three of the last four games. But while Carolina faces a tough task in the Wild Card round, the team already has a win against the Rams.

Carolina stunned Los Angeles with a 31-28 victory in Week 13. And while most observers expect the Rams to torch the Panthers in the playoffs, Carolina is putting up a fight.

The Panthers battled back with two second-quarter touchdown drives. Young’s 16-yard rushing score with under a minute remaining made it a 17-14 game at halftime.
