Browns forced to make Kevin Stefanski decision as head coaches learn futures on NFL’s Black Monday
Raheem Morris has already been pushed aside by Atlanta.
But while the Falcons took an early leap in the search for a new head coach on Black Monday in the NFL, Kevin Stefanski and Pete Carroll woke up still waiting to learn their futures

Which NFL coaches could be fired?
The Cleveland Browns (Stefanski) and Las Vegas Raiders (Carroll) have the biggest immediate decisions to make.
Cleveland is coming off a frustrating 5-12 season that feature Myles Garrett setting the NFL single-season sack record but again saw the Browns dealing with weekly drama.
The Raiders, who feature NFL legend Tom Brady as a minority owner, finished 3-14 and have quarterback questions, but they hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 draft.
Jonathan Gannon (Arizona Cardinals), Mike McDaniel (Miami Dolphins), Aaron Glenn (New York Jets), John Harbaugh (Baltimore Ravens) and Todd Bowles (Tampa Bay Buccaneers) also could be sacked early in 2026.
The Ravens failed to make the playoffs this year, suffering a 26-24 defeat to Aaron Rodgers, Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers when Baltimore kicker Tyler Loop missed a last-second 44-year field goal.
The Falcons became the first teams since the 2021 Raiders to fire a head coach after ending a season on a four-game winning streak, according to ESPN.
Atlanta beat the New Orleans Saints, Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers to end the 2025 campaign, and a season-ending 19-17 victory over the Saints helped propel the Carolina Panthers to the NFC South title and a playoff spot.
Atlanta didn’t wait in firing Morris and GM
But Falcons owner Arthur Blank still acted swiftly on Sunday, firing Morris and head coach and Terry Fontenot as general manager.
Morris has now lost head coaching jobs with the Bucs and Falcons, and he holds a 37-56 all-time record.
Carroll was hired by the Raiders to bring coaching experience to a Las Vegas squad that invested in veteran Geno Smith at QB.

But the Raiders dropped 10 straight games, while star defender Maxx Crosby left the team after learning he would be held out of action.
The Browns’ bounced between multiple QBs in 2025, using Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.
Stefanski is 45-56 since taking over Cleveland in 2020.
He’s won NFL Coach of the Year twice, yet the Browns have only won eight games in the past two seasons and momentum was building to move on from Stefanski heading into a Week 18 regular season finale.
