Brighton & Hove Albion vs Burnley predictions
Neither Brighton & Hove Albion nor Burnley particularly enjoyed the final month of 2025.
Brighton did not win any of their six Premier League matches in December, a run which saw them drop from fifth in the table to 14th.
Burnley were also winless last month. They collected two points from a possible 18 in December, compared to three for Brighton.
Scott Parker’s side remains in a difficult position. At the midway point of the campaign, they are six points adrift of safety. They have not won a game since beating last-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers in late October.
Back-to-back draws with Bournemouth and Arsenal at least stopped the rot after a seven-game losing streak, but Burnley were brought back down to earth by a 3-1 loss to Newcastle United in the midweek round of fixtures.
The Clarets look short of quality at this level. They rank bottom of the league by some distance on expected goals against, below even Wolves.
Burnley are the third-lowest scorers in the division, and only two teams have conceded more goals. This is a side which is struggling at both ends of the pitch.
Perhaps that is to be expected. Promoted clubs in general have struggled over the last few years.
Yet that is not true of Sunderland in 2025/26, while Leeds United have boosted their survival hopes in recent weeks. That makes Burnley’s situation all the more frustrating for their supporters.
“The mentality, desire and adversity we showed to going down 2-0 early on is what pleased me,” Parker said after the loss to Newcastle, in which Burnley conceded twice in the first seven minutes to give themselves a mountain to climb.
“I am just so frustrated because there were so many positives to take despite the defeat. The second half was full of desire, commitment and quality. I couldn’t have asked much more of the lads.”
No one can indeed fault Burnley’s effort and work rate, but they need points on the board quickly to avoid falling too far behind 17th place.
A win on Saturday would be invaluable, but for different reasons, Brighton are equally desperate to collect maximum points. The Seagulls are targeting European qualification, and they will not want to fall any further adrift of the top seven in the weeks ahead.
Brighton & Hove Albion vs Burnley betting tips
Brighton and Burnley begin 2026 against each other at the Amex Stadium.
Brighton to get job done
Despite failing to win a game in December, it was not all bad for Brighton.
Fabian Hurzeler’s side were the better team in a 2-2 draw with West Ham United last time out, while they only lost by one goal to both Aston Villa and Arsenal, two of the current top three.
It is worth noting that eight of Brighton’s last 10 matches have featured under 3.5 goals. With Burnley set to sit deep here, the Seagulls could have some trouble breaking them down.
In the end, Brighton’s superior quality in the final third should make the difference. But a high-scoring affair at the Amex Stadium is unlikely.

Seagulls to strike early
Brighton will aim to hit the ground running on Saturday afternoon.
Burnley’s low block could cause them problems, but Parker’s side have not exactly been defensively watertight at the beginning of matches.
The Clarets rank bottom of the first-half table this term. Brighton are 17th in those particular standings, but that is primarily down to a dismal record on their travels.
Burnley will aim to get to half-time with the score level, but there is a good chance Brighton will have their noses in front with 45 minutes on the clock.
Back Brighton to win the first half at 21/20 with Midnite
Welbeck on scoresheet
Danny Welbeck had an eventful evening at the London Stadium in midweek.
The Brighton striker scored one penalty and missed another during Brighton’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United.
Welbeck does not always start back-to-back games, but Hurzeler is likely to include him in the XI here for his penalty-box prowess.
The 35-year-old seems to be getting better with age, and he is our pick in the anytime scorer market in Brighton’s meeting with Burnley.
