Bayern Munich star Harry Kane makes 60-year Bundesliga history as 2026 gets off to flying start
Harry Kane has started off 2026 the same way he finished 2025 – by smashing records and creating history.
The 32-year-old was on target in Bayern Munich’s stunning 8-1 victory over Wolfsburg on Sunday in their first league match after the winter break.

In Kane’s previous Bundesliga outing in December, he became the quickest player to reach 100 goal involvements in the division – doing so in just 78 games.
And he has now added yet another record to his collection after scoring his side’s sixth goal against Wolfsburg at the Allianz Arena.
His epic curling strike was his 20th top-flight goal this term.
Kane is able
He has now scored at least 20 goals in each of his opening three seasons in Germany since joining from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.
Kane is the first player in the 21st century to score as many in his first three campaigns.
The last person to record such a feat was Timo Konietzka, who did so 60 years ago.
England skipper Kane also supplied an assist against Wolfsburg – his first since September.
In total, Kane has chipped in with 31 goals and four assists from just 26 matches in all competitions this term.
He is well on course to win back-to-back Bundesliga titles, as he looks to expand his trophy cabinet after winning his first piece of silverware last year.
Reflecting on his team’s recent performance, Kane said post-match: “It was great, I thought in moments we controlled it really well.

“We were disappointed to concede, but we recovered well and started controlling the momentum.
“In the second-half we came out with more energy and intensity.
“We were ruthless in our attacks to score as many goals as we did and [to] extend our lead to 11 points was important.”
What other records has Kane set this season?
It was only in October that saw Kane beat Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi‘s personal record of scoring 20 goals at the start of a season.
Kane, who now has 116 goals for Bayern, brought up a century of goals for Bayern in September – reaching triple digits quicker than any player has done for a club in a ‘Big Five’ league.
And if he continues scoring at his current rate, he will break into Bayern’s top ten all-time goalscorers list in just his third campaign at the Allianz Arena.

Having found the back of the net on 20 occasions already after 16 league matches, Kane is also on course to break the Bundesliga record for most goals in a single season.
Kane hasn’t just created club history this term.
England’s all-time top scorer also broke a 36-year Three Lions record during the October international break.
Kane’s future latest
Despite uncertainty over his future with his contract to expire in 2027, Kane has declared that talks to extend his stay are poised to take place.
He said earlier this month: “[On contract extension] Yeah, it is possible for sure. 100 per cent. These are conversations that need to be held, like I spoke on before the winter break as well.
“And I am sure they will happen, but my focus right now is on this season. There is a big opportunity. There is no place I’d rather be right now.”
