Barcelona vs Alaves predictions and betting tips – Blaugrana to march on

Barcelona marked their return to the Camp Nou in style last weekend, thrashing Athletic Bilbao 4-0. It was a fine display from Hansi Flick’s team, who are now looking for a similar result against Alaves on Saturday.

Barcelona are heavy favourites to come out on top. Is there any hope for Alaves, or will it be one-way traffic in Catalonia?

Barcelona vs Alaves predictions

Barcelona fans did not enjoy their Tuesday evenings.

Hansi Flick’s side headed to Stamford Bridge hoping to boost their chances of a top-eight finish in the league phase of the Champions League. Instead, they were soundly beaten by Chelsea.

Barcelona did not deserve anything more. The sending-off of Ronald Araujo just before half-time clearly made things more difficult for the Blaugrana, but Chelsea had been the better team before that and were already 1-0 up.

The Blues made full use of their numerical advantage after the break, as a wondergoal from Estevao and a strike from Liam Delap earned Enzo Maresca’s men a famous win.

It was a bad night for Barcelona, who had very few positives to take from their trip to London.

Having previously lost to Paris Saint-Germain, they are in a delicate position with three games remaining in the league phase. If Barca want to avoid the knockout phase play-offs, they probably need to collect maximum points from the final nine on offer.

“We had the chance to score first, and then with one player fewer, it’s not easy,” Flick said afterwards. “We fought, I saw some positives, but we lost easy balls and made easy passes under pressure. We have to analyse it, but I want to think positively.

“They were more physical and dynamic. I think we need to play more aggressively. Our game is good, the one-on-ones are good, but when you look at Chelsea, they were more physical and dynamic in the one-on-ones, and that’s what I want for my team.”

Flick will want to see a response from his players this weekend. While their Champions League campaign has been mediocre so far, Barcelona have made up ground on Real Madrid in La Liga of late.

That is in part because Xabi Alonso’s side have gone off the boil, but Barcelona have done well to keep up the pressure on their arch-rivals. Since losing the Clasico last month, Barca have won three out of three in the league.

As such, Flick’s charges are now just a point off the summit of the standings. With Madrid not in action until Sunday, a win here would move Barcelona into first place, at least temporarily.

One thing is for sure: they cannot be as bad as they were on Tuesday night.

Barcelona vs Alaves betting tips

Barcelona will be looking for a fourth league win on the bounce when Alaves come to town.

Comfortable afternoon for Barcelona

Alaves finished 15th last term, which was their second season back at the highest level of Spanish football.

They will be hoping to steer clear of relegation trouble this time around, but back-to-back defeats either side of the November international break have left them only four points above the drop zone.

Barcelona should not take anything for granted, but Alaves will struggle to get anything from the Camp Nou on Saturday.

Having been well beaten by Chelsea in midweek, Barcelona will be keen to hit the ground running here.

That is bad news for Alaves, who could find themselves behind at the interval.

Clean sheet for Barcelona?

This Barcelona team is not exactly renowned for its defensive solidity.

Six sides have conceded fewer goals in La Liga so far, and Barca rank only ninth for expected goals against.

On this occasion, though, there is a decent chance that the Blaugrana will keep a clean sheet.

Barcelona successfully shut Athletic Bilbao out last weekend, with the Basque side mustering only two shots on target.

Meanwhile, Alaves are the third-lowest scorers in the division, while they have only scored twice in six games away from home.

Torres can get on scoresheet

Ferran Torres is not a guaranteed starter week in, week out, but he is a really useful player for Barcelona to have.

Torres can play in any position across the frontline and he is not one to kick up a fuss if he is on the bench.

The Spain international was deployed from the start against Chelsea and we reckon he will keep his place in the XI here.

Torres has scored nine times in 16 appearances in 2025/26. This could be the game in which he reaches double figures.
