The New York Yankees are riding high after defeating the Boston Red Sox in the AL Wild Card series on Thursday. Now they will face their other division rival, the Tampa Bay Rays, in the ALDS beginning on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Tropicana Field.

Going into the series, Aaron Judge was highly complimentary of the Rays, per Gary Phillips of The New York Daily News. Essentially, Judge said that the Rays are a complete team, but that the Yankees are ready to take them on.

“They got everything,” Judge said. “We’re up for the task.”

The Rays have a vast array of assets working in their favor. They won the AL East Division with a 98-64 record. They also went 55-26 at home and defeated the Yankees 7-6 throughout the season.

The Rays also have power at the plate with Junior Caminero, who hit 42 home runs. They have consistency at the plate in Yandy Díaz, who led the AL in hits with 180. Additionally, Chandler Simpson is a reliable presence on the base paths.

Nevertheless, the Yankees have a lot going for them. They dominated the Red Sox with 9-0 and 9-2 victories in the Wild Card series. Plus, their staff ace Cam Schlittler is on a roll after pitching 6 1/3 scoreless innings against Boston. Their bullpen, led by Carlos Rodón, is also pretty top-notch.

The Yankees also lead the AL with a 3.24 ERA.

Meanwhile, Judge was left off the roster for the Wild Card series because of a recent calf strain. His status for the ALDS remains unknown.
