The New York Yankees are out of the playoffs after their loss on Wednesday night. New York had its eyes set on contending for a World Series. This especially rang true after the Yankees swept the Boston Red Sox in the Wild Card round.
Unfortunately, their World Series hopes crashed and burned against the Tampa Bay Rays. They were swept out of the playoffs by Tampa Bay, losing 4-3 in Game 3. After the game, Yankees ace Max Fried was not in the mood to hold back his thoughts in front of the media.
“It really sucks because we played a really sound game and did enough to win. Unfortunately, I didn't do enough to hold up my end of the bargain… We had high expectations for ourselves, and we didn't meet them,” Fried said, via YES Network.
The Yankees fell behind early when Jonathan Aranda drove in the first run in the opening frame. However, the Yankees were able to bounce back and tie the game. But as Fried alluded to, he made a big mistake in a big spot on Wednesday night.

The Rays are off to the ALCS, where they will face either the Cleveland Guardians or the Chicago White Sox. Chicago owns a 2-1 series lead after the Guardians won on Wednesday night. Those teams will play Game 4 of their series on Thursday night in Chicago.
