The Washington Wizards are less than two weeks away from kicking off their 2026-27 regular season. The Wizards recently turned in an impressive performance against the New York Knicks in preseason, with Trae Young torching his former rival with an impressive showing alongside Anthony Davis and rookie AJ Dybantsa.

Recently, Young revealed his lofty goal for Washington in the upcoming season, responding to a fan who asked him to come to his graduation in June.

“I would bro, I ain’t gon’ lie. I hope we are in the playoffs, June 2nd. The Finals are in July so that means we still playing,” he said, per WizardsMuse on X, formerly Twitter, via Legion Hoops.

Young was traded to the Wizards in January last year from the Atlanta Hawks and only played in a few games for Washington as he dealt with an injury. Shortly after he arrived in Washington, the team also traded for Davis, and then drafted Dybantsa after getting the number one overall pick. The trio of moves suddenly give the Wizards an intriguing core of veteran and young talent, to go along with what was already an interesting collection of younger players on the roster last year.

While some of the other moves in the Eastern Conference have fans skeptical if Washington truly has what it takes to make noise, Young is clearly not lacking for confidence about the Wizards' chances this year.

In any case, the Wizards are slated to kick off their new season on October 21 with a home game vs the Milwaukee Bucks. They still have a few more preseason games remaining prior to that date.
