Coach Matt LaFleur's Green Bay Packers won a 20-17 road game against the New York Jets and were led by a heroic performance from defensive end Lukas Van Ness. Van Ness helped the defense overcome a scary injury to Jayden Reed and a mediocre day on offense. Packers tight end Tucker Kraft was not surprised by Van Ness' big day, which he explained after the game.

Kraft knows what the former first round pick out of Iowa is capable of, a perspective forged from countless practice battles. Kraft spoke about his talented, pass rushing teammate after Week 2's win, sharing why he thinks Van Ness is poised for a breakout season.

“Seeing all the work he puts in, seeing it all come to fruition, it just puts a smile on my face. Because I have to practice against him every day, and I know how good he is. Barring injury last year, he would have been doing the same stuff,” Kraft said.

Van Ness had 10 tackles and 1.5 sacks, helping to lead Green Bay to victory against Aaron Glenn's team. Kraft is glad Van Ness is on his team and not lining up across from him as an opponent.

“So with a guy like Lukas Van Ness, you hate to say the sky is the limit, because I think he can be even better. He's a dog,” Kraft said to Ryan Wood of USA Today. “He's a physical specimen, and I'd hate to have to play against him when the lights are actually on.”

Week 3 will bring Kevin Stefanski's Atlanta Falcons to town in what looks like another winnable game. Quarterback Jordan Love explained a worrisome injury he suffered during the game in a postgame news conference, but Love should be able to move on from it and play against the Falcons.

The Packers haven't played like the Super Bowl contender many fans view them as, but there's still time to pull things together. Van Ness looks like a prime defensive piece for LaFleur's defense, which will need to play better against a hungry Falcons team that could surprise at Lambeau Field.
