The Philadelphia Phillies will live to play another day. Philadelphia had its back against the wall against the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday. But thanks in part to Bryce Harper, the Phillies staved off elimination in their NL Wild Card series.

Harper had a costly error in this game against the Braves. He misplayed a line drive that resulted in the Braves scoring runs. It didn't take long for him to redeem himself, though. Harper tied the game with a home run following this misplay. Before the homer, he received a bit of a pep talk from teammate Cristopher Sanchez.

“I waited for him on the bench and told him he was bound to have a great moment,” Sanchez said after the game, via NBC Sports Philadelphia. “He had it. He had a great situation and he came through.”

Sanchez took the ball in Game 2, but wasn't his usual self. He allowed three runs on six hits with five walks and six strikeouts. However, Harper's home run picked him up in a big way. It also allowed the Phillies to force extra innings.

In extras, it was another Phillies veteran who came through clutch. Alec Bohm homered to give his team a 4-3 lead in the 10th inning. Andrew Painter capped off a three-inning outing by working out of a jam in the bottom half of the 10th. The Phillies held on for an important victory.

The Phillies and Braves now both face elimination as the calendar flips to October. Philadelphia and Atlanta will take the field on Thursday to determine who advances to the NL Division Series.
