With the Dallas Cowboys taking on the Washington Commanders in Week 2 after the disappointing loss to the New York Giants on Sunday night, 28-20, there's no denying that fingers are being pointed in every direction for who's to blame. As the Cowboys' defense in Week 1 proved to be rancid, stars Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary would give insight into what went wrong in the opener.

In the loss to the NFC East rival, New York totaled 394 total yards, as it equaled out to 229 passing yards and 165 yards on the ground, as Dallas had a hard time making the Giants feel uneasy on offense. According to Jon Machota of The Athletic, both Clark and Gary were taken aback by the “unexpected communication issues” in the loss, with the former saying that everybody has a part in fixing the issue.

“Everybody has to look in the mirror and ask: ‘What can I do better?’ And fix it,” Clark said.

Subsequently, Gary took a positive approach to the defense's flaws, saying that the errors that were made in the loss were “fixable.”

“We’ve been taking steps in the right direction. Every mistake that was made is fixable,” Gary said.

As many called for the firing of defensive coordinator (DC) Matt Eberflus last season after a frustrating year for the unit, there's no denying that new DC Christian Parker's job is to improve.

“He’s been the same guy. Had a meeting, understand where we can be better at, came out with a plan of what we’re going to do this week to make sure we get better at those things. He’s an even-keeled guy,” Gary on Parker.

At any rate, Dallas looks ahead to Week 2 against the Commanders to fix any issues they have.
