The Indianapolis Colts improved to 2-2 on the young 2026 NFL season recently with a win over the Washington Commanders in London. The Commanders were down to their third string quarterback for most of the game thanks to an injury to backup Marcus Mariota, and the Colts ended up winning by a final score of 30-13.
Still, it was by no means a perfect game from the Colts, who saw Daniel Jones turn the ball over with a rough interception in the win.
After the game, Jones got 100 percent honest about the turnover problem that his plagued him so far this season.
“They’re all different. I think you gotta understand when to take a chance, when not to, when to protect the ball … I definitely gotta do a better job taking care of the ball,” he said, per James Boyd of The Athletic on X, fomerly Twitter.
Jones has now turned the ball over seven times in just four games so far this season.
Article Continues BelowColts head coach Shane Steichen also weighed in on the issue.
“I think he’s done some really good things and then some things we need to clean up. But he’s made some big-time throws. … I think he’s doing a good job,” he said.
Jones is still less than a year removed from the devastating Achilles issue that ended his red-hot 2025 season prematurely, with many fans surprised that he was able to make it back in time for the start of this season.
Turnovers were an issue dating back to Jones' days with the New York Giants, and he will look to put those problems behind him when the Colts next hit the field next Sunday on the road vs the Pittsburgh Steelers.
