The Washington Commanders went toe-to-toe with the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. It was a close game between two NFC East rivals. Washington had a chance to win the game. Unfortunately, head coach Dan Quinn watched as his team failed a two-point try.

The Commanders scored a touchdown late in the fourth quarter. They needed a two-point conversion to tie the game, though. Quarterback Jayden Daniels pitched the ball to his running back on a designed shovel play. This did not fool the Eagles, though. They were all over it, and Philadelphia came away with a big home win.

After the game, Quinn was asked about the play. He kept his answer short and simple. He believes the call was correct, but it just didn't work out. “I knew the play. It was a good one. It just didn’t execute, which sucks,” the Washington head coach said, via JP Finlay of NBC 4 Sports.

The Commanders did well to keep this game close. They were not able to move the ball like the Eagles did, managing less than 300 yards of offense. But Washington owned the time of possession battle while not recording a single turnover.

Daniels tossed two touchdowns in this game while racking up 164 passing yards. It wasn't the flashiest performance from the former LSU star. In saying this, he put his team in a position to potentially win this game.

The Commanders are going to file this one away as a learning experience. There is plenty of football left to be played. And that means there are more chances to bounce back from this loss. Washington takes the field in Week 2 when they take on the Dallas Cowboys away from home next Sunday.
