Fans of the Los Angeles Chargers cringed with under 3;50 left against the Las Vegas Raiders. Running back Omarion Hampton busted up the middle and past the line of scrimmage. But Hampton coughed the football up for a costly fumble that ultimately decided the 26-14 Raiders win.
Nakobe Dean forced the ball out while safety Jeremy Chinn pounced on it for Vegas. The Raiders eventually turned that mistake into points, with quarterback Kirk Cousins hitting Cody White all alone for the game's final touchdown.
Hampton, meanwhile, left Charger fans in shambles. With some fans already writing off the 2026 team during this 0-2 start under coach Jim Harbaugh. The running back is already facing the criticism for the fumble. And he dropped a blunt take on what he must do moving forward.
âÂÂI just gotta take care of it, put two hands on the ball, be better for my team,â Hampton told reporters postgame. âÂÂJust got to be more focused and be ready to come out ready for our game.âÂÂ

Hampton was among the notable veterans Harbaugh chose to rest during the preseason. Now fans are wondering if that became a huge mistake on the coach's end. The first team players have looked disorganized and mistake prone. Plus look like they're lacking in chemistry on the field.
But Hampton isn't buying that notion that the lack of snaps in August is playing a role in this slow start. Stating âÂÂwe have to play better.âÂÂ
The Chargers dropped to 0-2 overall and even lost against a Raiders team that played without star tight end Brock Bowers. But discovered a new unknown weapon in White, who became the new thorn for Hampton and the Bolts.
