NBA training camps do not open up until the very end of the month, and so players are still on their own in terms of offseason workouts and whatnot. For some players, that means a return to their old college stopping grounds as was the case for All-Stars Jayson Tatum, Paolo Banchero and Kyrie Irving who stopped by Duke to put in some offseason work.

From the looks of it, Jayson Tatum, Paolo Banchero and Kyrie Irving played alongside former NBA player and current Duke assistant coach Amile Jefferson, as well as players on the current squad. The trio are among the program’s most notable alumni in the NBA.

Each player played only one season at Duke before declaring for the NBA Draft, with Irving suiting up in 2010-11, Tatum playing in 2016-17 and Banchero in 2021-22. Irving and Banchero were both No. 1 overall picks in the NBA Draft in 2011 and 2022 respectively, while Tatum was the No. 3 overall pick in 2017.

Both Tatum and Irving have won NBA championships with the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers, respectively, while Banchero has helped lead the Orlando Magic to back-to-back Game 7s in the opening round, but has thus far been unable to advance.

When the 2026-27 NBA season begins next month, Tatum will be entering his ninth season in the league, all with the Celtics. Banchero will be in his fifth season, all with the Magic. Irving will be in his 15th season, and his third full season with the Dallas Mavericks after being acquired at the 2023-24 trade deadline.
