Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green blasted Danilo Gallinari over his criticism of Kawhi Leonard following the NBA's punishment of Leonard for his involvement in salary cap circumvention with the Los Angeles Clippers.

During the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” Green took issue with Gallinari saying Leonard should have been forced to pay $50 million and blaming the former Clippers star for changing the trajectory of his career.

“I think wishing the NBA took $50 million from a player is disgusting,” Green said. “To walk around with this type of vendetta because you got traded… That also wasn’t Danilo Gallinari’s first time being traded so for him to sit and act as if Kawhi Leonard ruined his career, that’s bullsh*t. Gallinari is one of those guys who was extremely talented who would give you fits but was a little lazy.”

Green went further, criticizing Gallinari's approach during his NBA career.

“Was not known as someone who gives their all to the game of basketball,” Green said. “One of those guys who’d come in with a random back injury. One of those guys who isn’t always in tip-top basketball shape because the word around him is he don’t really care. I think Gallinari would choose Paul George over himself and if you won’t that’s crazy. That’s ridiculous.”

Gallinari recently criticized Leonard during an appearance on the “A Cresta Alta” podcast, claiming the seven-time All-Star played a significant role in ending his Clippers tenure.

“He should pay all of that $50 million,” Gallinari said. “He changed the trajectory of my career and put me in a difficult situation by sending me away from Los Angeles. What happened to my NBA career wasn’t decided by a general manager or an owner, but by a player who decided that team wasn’t good enough and wanted something else.”

Gallinari left Los Angeles in the blockbuster 2019 trade that brought Paul George to the Clippers from the Oklahoma City Thunder. The deal came as Los Angeles secured Leonard in free agency following his championship season with the Toronto Raptors.

Green rejected the idea that Leonard alone should receive responsibility for Gallinari's departure, pointing to the Clippers' role in completing the transaction.

“Kawhi Leonard does not have the power to trade a player,” Green said. “He can request, ‘hey, I want you to go out there and get this guy.’ But he don’t have the ability to make that trade. That franchise has to agree. Just like they had to agree to circumvent the cap.”

Leonard has since returned to Toronto following his seven-year Clippers tenure, but the fallout surrounding his time in Los Angeles continues to generate strong reactions around the NBA.
