Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr's reputation as a successful coach who guided his team to the NBA's most recent dynasty is synonymous with winning. Therefore, it came as no surprise that tennis legend Roger Federer was thrilled to see who he thought was the four-time champion head coach. As Kerr enters the final chapter of his coaching career, his doppelganger took full advantage when the tennis legend embraced him under false pretenses.
Kerr's look-alike explained how it all went down when he met Federer, his all-time favorite athlete, he said, per Pablo Finds Out.
“He's number 1. Number 2 is Steph, because both of them exemplify, to me, what a modern brilliant athlete is. Family is first. They have achieved the highest level of their craft, and everything they do is seemingly Van Gogh or Rembrandt,” he said. “I'm walking out. I'm holding my phone. I'm with my daughter, and Roger Federer had courtside seats. I didn't know he was there. He was seen on the big screen, and he's there with Joe Lacob and wife.
“They walk up, and somehow Joe Lacob got kind of separated from Roger, I think. And Roger takes the phone off my chest, turns, takes a picture, and says, “Thank you.” He puts his arm around me and does a double pat.”
The fake Steve Kerr couldn't help himself following Roger Federer's embrace while Warriors executive Joe Lacob wasn't around.
“Clearly there was some mistaken recognition of what the situation was because I just got a picture with my favorite athlete of all time, and I didn't even bargain for it,” he added. “It was nine seconds; a whole cluster of people are going back and forth. I am usually not in a massive lost for words, as you can see. But in that moment, all I could do is say thank you.”
