The Minnesota Vikings are one of the most pleasant surprises in the NFL this season. Minnesota is 6-0 to start the season thanks in large part to the elite play of their defense. It seems that Minnesota is on the hunt for upgrades on the offensive side of the ball before the NFl trade deadline.

NFL insider James Palmer shared some intel from around the league ahead of the trade deadline following Thursday Night Football. He talked briefly about the Vikings, who are reportedly quite active on the phones before the deadline.

“The Vikings' new general manager, Nolan Teasley, is looking at everything. he is a madman on the phones, I'm told. They're look at running back and looking at tight end,” Palmer said on the NFL on Prime Video postgame show.

It makes sense to hear that Minnesota is interested in upgrading the running back position.

Both Vikings running backs, Aaron Jones and Jordan Mason, have dealt with injuries so far this season. Jones returned to practice on Thursday after missing practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. The 31-year-old is still a useful player, but he may not have the health to be a lead back anymore. Meanwhile, Mason looks healthy after missing multiple games with a thumb injury.

Minnesota has been connected to Jonathan Taylor as a trade target, which would be an absolutely massive upgrade.

The Vikings' interest at tight end is a bit more intriguing. They still have T.J. Hockenson as their starter, though his production has not been great for a few seasons in a row. Adding depth at the position could be smart, and gaining another starting-caliber tight end would be even better.

Minnesota currently has 10 selections ahead of the 2027 NFL Draft. That gives them plenty of ammo to swing a deal at the deadline.

It will be interesting to see if the Vikings go all in after their undefeated start. Perhaps the outcome of this weekend's NFC North battle will influence their decision.

Vikings at Lions kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Nov. 1 from Ford Field in Detroit.
