The Vanderbilt Commodores are 2-0 to start the season. However, after seeing how well he played off the bench in the 35-26 Week 2 win over the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens, head coach Clark Lea is finally starting his five-star true freshman quarterback for Week 3 against the NC State Wolfpack.
Reports indicate that Jared Curtis, who has flashed potential in Vanderbilt's first two games this season, is the new starting signal-caller for the Commodores, according to Pete Nakos of On3 Sports. After his performance against Delaware, Lea seemingly felt it was time to make change at quarterback after weeks of speculation.

He replaced fourth-year quarterback Blaze Berlowitz, and finished the contest with 210 passing yards and a passing touchdown while completing 63.6% of pass attempts. The Tennessee native also scored two rushing touchdowns, displaying dual-threat capabilities in the red zone.
After two appearances under his belt, Curtis already looks the part. He enters Week 3 against NC State with 31 total pass attempts, with 21 completions (67.7% completion percentage), leading to 270 passing yards and the lone touchdown he threw against Delaware.
Jared Curtis takes command of the huddle in the week before conference play. Lea may want to give his five-star true freshman quarterback another chance to ramp things up before Vanderbilt faces off against SEC opponents.
