Tulane lost nearly two dozen players to the transfer portal after Jon Sumrall left for Florida. One of the players who remained was star running back Jamauri McClure. McClure missed the start of the season due to an injury.

Now, another update on the running back has been given, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.

“Tulane will again be without star tailback Jamauri McClure against Southern Miss this weekend. He's yet to play this season, as he's dealing with a foot injury. Tulane is optimistic about McClure's return for American Conference play at Army on Oct. 10, as the Green Wave have a bye next week,” Thamel posted on X, formerly Twitter.

McClure ran for 540 yards with two touchdowns this year. He picked up towards the end of the season. He ran for 80 or more yards in five of his last six games while scoring twice. That includes him running for 121 yards and a touchdown against North Texas in the American Championship game. He also ran for 84 yards on 25 carries against Ole Miss in the College Football Playoff first-round game.

Tulane has struggled this year. They opened up the season with a 17-3 loss on the road to Duke. They then returned home to defeat South Alabama 28-24 the next week before losing to Kansas State 31-20. This week, they will face off against Southern Miss this week. Tulane will have an open week in Week 5 of the season and open up American Conference play on October 10 on the road against Army in Week 6.
