Trey Hendrickson did not have a happy reunion with his old team as the Baltimore Ravens completely collapsed in their 35-13 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Hendrickson, who signed with the Ravens this offseason after five seasons with the Bengals, believes the Ravens are falling short of their “standard” of late with these spectacular collapses.

“The game isn’t over until it’s over. And we have a standard of our play. So, continuing to go out there and finishing the game was most important,” Hendrickson said, per Josh Tolentino of the Baltimore Sun.

“I can’t speak for everybody else, but there is a standard to the way we should prepare, and nobody should be having these side conversations on the sidelines, if there is any.”

For the second straight game, the Ravens built up a double-digit first-half lead, only to completely throw it away by going scoreless in the second half. But their collapse against Cincy was on a different level as they gave up 35 points without reply. The continued absence of quarterback Lamar Jackson is obviously a big factor, but the defense also needs to take responsibility for the team giving up these leads.

Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith spoke of the team needing more “consistency” amid their wild swings in performance. But for a team as talented as the Ravens, particularly on defense, it could be as simple as their stars playing up to their potential.

Hendrickson himself also needs to play up to his high standard after a slow start. After putting up 17.5 sacks in each of his last two full seasons with the Bengals, he has only recorded two sacks and six quarterback hits over his first five games with the Ravens.
