Trevor Lawrence isn't going to let one ugly loss change how he feels about the progression of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Jacksonville entered Week 2 looking like one of the NFL's most dangerous offenses after scoring 34 points against Cleveland. Things looked promising again when the Jaguars built a 13-3 lead over the Denver Broncos, but everything fell apart from there. Denver scored the final 17 points to hand Jacksonville a 20-13 loss, shutting out Lawrence and the Jaguars for the remainder of the game.

Now Lawrence expects a response against the New England Patriots.

“That's football, that's what it's all about,” Lawrence said, via Action Sports Jax. “It's the NFL, you're going to play some good teams, you're going to have some tough losses, and you gotta be able to respond the next week. That says everything you need to know about your team. So, I'm confident that we're going to respond, and that we're going to be ready to go against New England.”

Lawrence certainly has enough weapons to make that happen. After throwing four touchdowns in Jacksonville's Week 1 victory, Lawrence was held to 189 passing yards with zero touchdowns and an interception against Denver. The Jaguars couldn't consistently protect him, either, as the Broncos generated seven quarterback hits and two sacks.

Things won't get easier Sunday.

New England just held Pittsburgh to three points and will present another test for a Jacksonville offense with postseason expectations. If both teams eventually become the AFC contenders they expect to be, Sunday's matchup could even provide an early preview of something considerably more important down the road.

For now, Lawrence is focused on making sure one disappointing afternoon doesn't become two in a row.
