The Tennessee Titans elevated running back Michael Carter from the practice squad Saturday ahead of their Week 3 matchup against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium.
The move provides Tennessee with additional depth in the backfield as Tyjae Spears deals with an injury and enters Sunday's game with a questionable designation.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported the roster move Saturday via X, formerly known as Twitter.

Carter spent the first two-plus seasons of his NFL career with the New York Jets after they selected him in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. He later played for the Arizona Cardinals before signing with Tennessee during the offseason.

The 27-year-old appeared in 13 games for Arizona last season, recording 333 rushing yards and one touchdown on 92 carries. He also contributed 33 receptions for 267 yards, giving the Titans an experienced option as both a runner and receiver if Spears is limited or unavailable.
Carter competed for a roster spot during Titans training camp but began the regular season on the practice squad. Tennessee entered the year with Tony Pollard and Spears leading its backfield, with rookie Nicholas Singleton and Julius Chestnut also making the initial roster.
The Titans enter Sunday's matchup searching for their first victory after an 0-2 start. Tennessee opened the season with a 23-10 loss to the New York Jets before falling 24-20 against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 2.
Sunday's matchup begins a two-game road stretch for Tennessee. After facing the Giants, the Titans will travel to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4.
With Spears' status uncertain and poor weather potentially creating a greater emphasis on the running game, Carter's elevation could give Tennessee valuable insurance as it attempts to avoid an 0-3 start.
