Pablo Torre is a troublemaker. In the best way possible.
It was enough to get Tebow to suspend his dealings with Life Surge.
“The allegations are extremely, extremely serious,” Tebow told reporters on Friday, “and it’s something that we take very serious. And so for us, we’re having our team do an investigation but also pausing our relationship ‘til we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more.”
Tebow was asked whether he knew about the situation before Torre’s investigation.
“Honestly, I was at a anti-human trafficking conference yesterday, and the team shared with me when we were leaving as we were flying to Alabama for [an] event,” Tebow said. “And kind of caught off guard with some of it, and I think that’s why we’re trying to understand more of the facts to really learn it.”
That’s hardly a clear and unequivocal denial. Regardless, Torre’s investigation put just enough of a spotlight on the situation to get Tebow to back away, regardless of what he knew or should have known before Torre pulled the curtain back on Life Surge.
It’s possible the group duped Tebow in the same way it allegedly duped those who attended the events at which Tebow spoke. Historically, plenty of Christians have had their strong beliefs leveraged into plenty of money for charlatans who regard intense faith as an opportunity to make easy money.
