The Chicago Bears entered the 2026 NFL season as a dark-horse contender to win the Super Bowl, especially with superstar quarterback Caleb Williams continuing to get better year after year. Heading into his third season as the Bears' QB1, Williams is looking to take his game to the next level, and their offense was certified elite during their season-opening victory against the Carolina Panthers in which they put up 59 points on the board compared to just 37 for their opponents.

Williams was part of an incredible ensemble effort for the Bears; he did a great job of calling the game and putting his team in a position to succeed. He finished the night with 21 completed passes out of 29 attempts for a total of 269 yards, and of those 21 passes, two went for touchdowns.

Even with the Bears already having put 59 points on the board, Williams didn't sound very satisfied with his performance on Sunday. It looks as though head coach Ben Johnson's perfectionism is rubbing off on him, if his postgame comments are any indication.

“There were a few passes I left out there. There was one that should've been a touchdown to Colston (Loveland) that I missed. Threw it a little too far in front of him. Just small things like that. You don't get those opportunities too often — you get the perfect coverage with the perfect route and so gotta hit those. Those are important for me and this team and us chugging along to our goal,” Williams said, per CHGO Sports on X.

This is the kind of mindset that makes the Bears so scary moving forward. Johnson has earned the full buy-in of his team, and Williams has become an extension of his head coach out there on the field.

Of course, the Bears aren't going to score 59 points every week. But Chicago is going to be a force to be reckoned with this season nonetheless if they keep up this high-octane offense, starting in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.
