The Buffalo Bills are on top of the world to start the 2026 NFL season. Buffalo is 2-0 to start the year after getting two dominant wins against good opponents. One former Bills player is now confident that the team could be destined for a special season.
Former Bills safety Jordan Poyer boldly declared that his former team is the best in the NFL this season. Josh Allen plays a big part in Poyer's confidence.
“I believe so. When you have 17 at the helm, it's hard to argue against that,” Poyer said on Friday via NFL on CBS. “Their ability to score at will, it almost seems. Even the mindset of that entire team with Joe Brady coming in there. I mean, the first fourth down of the season they had fourth-and-2 from inside their own 50 and they're going for it. Just the different kind of mindset that they have as an entire football team.”
The Brady hire itself always seemed like a move to make Allen as comfortable as possible. So far, it seems to be working out flawlessly.
It also helps that defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard gives Brady the latitude to focus on the offensive side of the ball.
“It also seems like Joe Brady is like hey Jim Leonhard, you take that defense and do what you need to do with it. I'm gonna take this offense and we're going to score more points than that other team,” Poyer added. “I'm excited for this Bills football team and I do believe they're the best football team in the game right now. But like you said, when it comes to the playoffs, that's when it's really gonna test them. That's when we're really going to talk about Josh Allen being one of the greats of all time, being able to get over that hump to the Super Bowl.”
It will be fascinating to see if Buffalo can maintain this high level of play into the playoffs later this fall.
