Things were going well for Arch Manning and the No. 1 Texas Longhorns before disaster struck them in their upset loss to the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday night.

Texas performed very well in the first half, outscoring Oklahoma 17-7 in the opening 30 minutes of regulation. Manning performed solid throughout that frame, but regressed in a major way in the last 30 minutes.

The Sooners took full advantage, outscoring the Longhorns 20-7 in the second half. They used a pick-6 interception and a game-winning field goal in the dying seconds to stun the top-ranked squad in the country. It was an epic collapse as football insider Pete Thamel went into detail about the critical mistakes Texas made down the stretch.

“Oklahoma beats No. 1 Texas, 27-24, on a field goal by Tate Sandell. The win was enabled by an Arch Manning pick 6 and a Manning interception under duress in the final minute. OU’s John Mateer made two huge throws to set up the win,” Thamel wrote.
