The No. 1 Texas Longhorns may have earned the biggest win of the season in Week 2 after defeating the No. 6 Ohio State Buckeyes 24-23. It was one of those victories that could easily allow a team to coast their next game. But Steve Sarkisian is getting ahead of that potential problem by using a famous Kobe Bryant line.

Reports indicate that the 52-year-old head coach shared the video of the Los Angeles Lakers legend claiming, “job's not finished,” after leading L.A. to a 2-0 series lead in the 2009 NBA Finals. It's the perfect clip to get his Longhorns focused on the next game at hand rather than bask in the glory of a huge regular season win.

“What's there to be happy about?” Bryant asked a reporter during the Game 2 press conference in the 2009 NBA Finals. “Job's not finished. Job finished? I don't think so.”

Texas has the UTSA Roadrunners next on the schedule. That should be an easy one for a program that just took down the previous No. 1-ranked Ohio State in a miraculous comeback win. But Steve Sarkisian is not taking any chances after sharing that Kobe Bryant quote with his team.

But that quote might be more for the remainder of the schedule. The Longhorns are currently set to face off against six ranked opponents in their 10 remaining games. Things are going to become difficult once SEC play officially kicks off for Texas in Week 4 against the No. 15 Tennessee Volunteers.

But as long as Arch Manning's clutch gene shines through the entire 2026-27 campaign, then Sarkisian and the Longhorns may have nothing to worry about. Texas will kick off against UTSA on Saturday, September 19 at 8 p.m. EST.
