There was not much more that Colin Simmons could do in Texas' 20-17 victory versus Tennessee on Saturday afternoon, as he decimated the Volunteer's offensive line on his way to a historic performance in Neyland Stadium. But his on-field behavior left much to be desired. And he was not alone.
The game-breaking edge rusher celebrated one of his five sacks with a crass celebration that saw him pantomime the act of urination during the the second quarter. He received an unsportsmanlike penalty, which visibly confounded him even though everyone watching knew that the officiating crew would not let such a juvenile gesture go unpunished.
Longhorns star running back Raleek Brown did his best to out-unclass his teammate, engaging his own unsavory, nether region-related shenanigans after scoring a touchdown with less than six minutes left in the game. Simmons apologized for his antics after the win, but he minimized its impact with his subsequent remarks.
“I also do want to say I apologize for the celebration,” the 2025 First-Team All-SEC selection said, per Tyler Horka of Inside Texas. “I was definitely in that mode feeling myself, but it happens. Charges of the game.”
Simmons expressed regret on X, and this time, he did so without inserting a “but.” “All Glory To God,” the junior proclaimed. “Thank you for listening to my prayers and forgive me for my actions.”
There were stunned reactions galore in the aftermath of the controversial display. “Collin Simmons pulls his package out at Tennessee,” all-time great college football coach Nick Saban posted on X. “These celebrations….smh.”
“Guys can’t do anything anymore,” Brandon Walker of Barstool Sports joked.
