Texas running back Hollywood Smothers was upgraded to probable Friday night ahead of Saturday's game against Tennessee at Neyland Stadium. The NC State transfer has been dealing with a lower-body injury and was listed as questionable on Wednesday and Thursday.

The SEC is scheduled to issue one final injury report Saturday before the noon ET kickoff on ABC.

Through three games, Smothers leads the Longhorns in rushing with 198 yards on 41 attempts and two touchdowns. Both of his rushing scores came during Texas' comeback win over then-No. 1 Ohio State in Week 2. Against the Buckeyes, he finished with 74 rushing yards and two touchdowns. He followed that performance with 10 carries for 54 yards against UTSA last week and had 70 rushing yards and a receiving touchdown against Texas State in the season opener.

If Smothers is unable to play or sees his workload reduced, the Longhorns have senior Raleek Brown and freshman Derrek Cooper available. Brown has accumulated 129 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries this season, while Cooper has 50 yards and one touchdown on 13 attempts.

Smothers arrived at Texas after rushing for 939 yards and six touchdowns on 160 carries for the Wolfpack last season. His 2025 totals nearly doubled his previous season's carries and rushing yards.

The No. 1 Longhorns and No. 14 Volunteers enter the contest at 3-0. The two teams last met on Jan. 1, 1969, when Texas won 36-13 in the Cotton Bowl.
