Steve Sarkisian is making a tweak to the offense that may elevate the activity level of Arch Manning ahead of the remaining schedule for the No. 7 Texas Longhorns.
Sarkisian is going through his sixth season at the helm for the Longhorns. He looks to lead the program to another appearance in the College Football Playoff, last appearing in the 2023 and 2024 tournaments.
Texas is off to a solid start, winning its first four games before losing to the Oklahoma Sooners in a stunning upset. Manning made crucial errors that ended up costing Texas its perfect start to the season, prompting the need to adjust and resolve the issues.
Sarkisian spoke with reporters on Thursday, via Inside Texas. He noted how Manning highly produced when the quarterback used his legs to be more mobile and have opposing defenders on their heels throughout last season.
“I feel like when we were at our best last year as an offense, he was utilizing his legs, whether it was on designed runs or scrambles when things broke down, or even in the red area, understanding the run option element that he has at his disposal. So now I'm with you. I would like to see his legs become more of a factor than they've been so far,” Sarkisian said.
