With the Texas football team beating the Ohio State Buckeyes last Saturday night, 24-23, the comeback win wasn't the only talking point in the sports world, as head coach Steve Sarkisian blew off an interview with ESPN reporter Holly Rowe right after. As Texas football quarterback Arch Manning spoke about the Sarkisian and Rowe incident, even sharing his amusement at an artificial intelligence (AI) video of the coach striking the reporter, he has now apologized for the comments.

Posting a statement to his Instagram stories, which expire after 24 hours, Manning said he “made an insensitive comment about an AI video,” and that “there is nothing funny about it,” later apologizing to Rowe.

“In my press conference yesterday, I made an insensitive comment about an AI video,” Manning wrote, via Chris Vannini. “There is nothing funny about it. It's easy to say I didn't mean it, but I know my words and actions were hurtful to a lot of people. I do not take that lightly and am deeply sorry for that.”

“I specifically want to apologize to Holly Rowe for what she has personally had to deal with because of my comments,” Manning continued. “I have a ton of respect for her and appreciate her showing me grace in this moment. I need to do better and will be more thoughtful going forward.”
