Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies have not been meeting expectations to start the 2026 season, getting intense criticism following their 27-6 loss to the No. 14 Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon.
Elko has been the Aggies' head coach since 2024, having seen solid growth in his first two years. He got them to the College Football Playoffs in 2025, falling in the first round.
Texas A&M looked to build on that progress by making a stronger case as national contenders. However, they seemed to have taken steps back as they are 3-2 after the first five games of the season. They only scored six points against a strong Missouri squad, resulting in football insider Ross Dellenger firing shots at the current quality of the Aggies squad.
