The Houston Texans are getting more help for quarterback C.J. Stroud as they attempt to turn around a disappointing start to the 2026 season, activating offensive tackle Braden Smith from injured reserve Wednesday.

Houston announced the roster move via X, formerly known as Twitter, just days after earning its first victory of the season with a 26-3 win over the Tennessee Titans.

“We have activated Braden Smith from the Reserve/Injured list and made other roster moves.”

Smith's return provides another reinforcement for an offense looking to build momentum around Stroud. The veteran offensive lineman gives Houston additional help up front as the Texans attempt to climb out of an early 1-4 hole.

The move comes only days after Houston made a significant addition to Stroud's collection of weapons. The Texans acquired wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick from the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday in exchange for second- and sixth-round selections in the 2027 NFL Draft.

Harrison, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, gives Stroud another high-profile target as Houston looks to spark its offense and salvage its season. Pairing his arrival with Smith's return provides the Texans with reinforcements at two key positions.
