The prospect of Houston Texans wide receiver Nico Collins playing in Week 3 just got bleaker. The Texans released their latest injury report on Thursday, and it showed Collins with a second consecutive DNP (Did Not Participate) status due to a hamstring injury.
All hope is not lost on his availability for Houston's game this coming Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, however, as there is still one more round of practice left for the Texans. Still, given how things stand, he seems to be on track to miss the Colts game at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The 27-year-old Collins hurt his hamstring during practice in the lead-up to Week 2's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, forcing him to miss that contest at NRG Stadium in Houston. The former Michigan Wolverines star wideout had 75 receiving yards and a touchdown on seven catches and 10 targets in Week 1's36-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills at home.
With Collins trending in the wrong direction for the Colts game, the CJ Stroud-led Texans passing attack, the likes of wide receivers Jaylin Noel, Xavier Hutchinson and Kayshon Boutte could see expanded work in Week 3. However, it's tight end Dalton Schultz who is actually doing most of the heavy lifting downfield for Houston. Through two games, Schultz had 175 receiving yards on 16 receptions.
If Collins ends up being ruled out for the meeting with the Colts, the soonest he can see action will be in Week 4, when the Texans return home to host Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys.
Collins' injury is also putting his streak of 1,000-yard seasons in danger of getting snapped. He has recorded three straight seasons with at least 1,000 receiving yards after collecting 1,117 receiving yards in 2025.
Collins had a contract adjustment in the offseason with the Texans.
