On Sunday, the Golden State Warriors suffered a real scare. During practice, Stephen Curry appeared to have injured himself.

At first, everyone thought the 38-year-old superstar had injured his knee. However, he tweaked his ankle, much to the relief of the fans at the Chase Center watching a live team practice.

After practice, Warriors forward Gui Santos described the shocked reaction he and his teammates felt.

“Of course we were scared,” Santos said. “But it’s Steph; he’s tough. But he’s gonna be good. Tomorrow he’s gonna wake up, and he’s gonna be feeling good. We were definitely worried, but the way that I saw him walking off the court, I don’t think there’s something really bad, no.”

Santos is a 6-foot-7 power forward from Brazil who has played for Golden State since 2023. Last year, he averaged 9.3 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and shot 50% from the field.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are recognizing Curry's age. While still one of the league's top players, Curry has something to prove. Last year, he had a great season, averaging 26.6 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game. He also shot 46.8% from the field and 39.3% from the 3-point line.

Ultimately, the Warriors were eliminated from the Play-In Tournament.

Additionally, the Warriors are trying to quell fears about Curry's retirement and are working with him to ensure he is good to go for this season. In late September, Curry agreed to a 2-year, $116 million extension, reportedly $20 million less than a maximum extension, to help the Warriors clear cap space.
