The Pittsburgh Steelers ended their rough week with a tough divisional loss. Pittsburgh lost a close game against Cleveland 27-24 despite scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter. One Steelers veteran is not happy about losing to their division rival.
Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt did not hold back when talking about Thursday's crushing loss shortly after its conclusion.
“It's extremely frustrating. To not sit here at 3-1 isn't acceptable. Obviously, it's a long season to go, but we just have to put it together,” Watt said after the game, per ESPN's Brooke Pryor.
Before Thursday's game, every team in the AFC North had the same record at 2-1. Pittsburgh now falls to the bottom of the division standings and is at a disadvantage against Cleveland. That will put the Steelers under a lot of pressure to beat the Browns in Week 8 to avoid getting swept by a division rival.
Both teams were pretty evenly matched on Thursday Night Football. However, the one area where the Browns had a clear advantage was rushing the passer. Cleveland sacked Aaron Rodgers five times, while Pittsburgh only sacked Deshaun Watson twice. Watt played his part though, ending the game with four total tackles, one sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery.
Article Continues BelowTo make matters worse, the Steelers are suddenly dealing with some serious depth concerns in their defensive secondary. Pittsburgh traded Joey Porter Jr. to Dallas on Wednesday, losing their best cornerback. On top of that, Jalen Ramsey is dealing with a wrist injury and Jamel Dean injured his ankle during Thursday's loss.
Steelers fans should keep an eye out for some veteran additions at cornerback next week to help fill the void left by Porter.
Either way, now the Steelers will have a long weekend before regrouping ahead of Week 5.
Next up for the Steelers is a home game against the Colts. That contest kicks off at 1 p.m. ET on Oct. 11 from Acrisure Stadium.
