The Steelers have parted ways with veteran safety Rayshawn Jenkins.

They announced that they have released Jenkins on Wednesday afternoon. Jenkins signed with the Steelers as a free agent this offseason.

Jenkins appeared in all six games and made one start during his brief time with the Steelers. He had 16 tackles while seeing time on defense and special teams.

Jenkins has also played for the Browns, Seahawks, Jaguars and Chargers. He could add to that total if another team finds itself in need of an experienced safety in the second half of the season.

The Steelers did not play Jenkins on defense against the Bucs in Week 6. Jaquan Brisker, Jalen Ramsey, Asante Samuel Jr., Jamel Dean, Robert Spears-Jennings, and Daylen Everette were the team’s defensive backs in that game.
