College football insider for CBS Sports Matt Zenitz revealed the unfortunate news Sunday afternoon.

“An MRI today showed that standout defensive back Dashawn Spears suffered a season-ending ACL injury against Ole Miss, sources tell CBS Sports,” Zenitz posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter.

Spears and Green struggled to finish out the game inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. LSU eventually took the 32-24 loss and dropped to No. 10 in Sunday's top 25 rankings.
