San Antonio Spurs guard Dylan Harper will scale new heights in his sophomore year. If his performance in last season's playoffs was any indication, Harper will not have trouble increasing his production in the upcoming season.
His growth was expedited after the Spurs reached the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks. They may have lost, but Harper was a huge revelation. He displayed composure usually seen in seasoned players.
While the 20-year-old guard has moved on, he admitted in a report from GQ's Cam Wolf that he still watches the game-winning tip-in of Knicks forward OG Anunoby in Game 4, which capped off New York's wild 29-point comeback.
“He (Harper) eventually finds the angle he’s looking for and points to his reaction under the basket, the O of his mouth growing in slow motion,” wrote Wolf.
Harper added: “That s*** is hilarious.”
The left-handed playmaker noted that it was the loudest he had ever heard an arena.
Article Continues BelowHarper averaged 18.0 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 31.0 minutes per game in the NBA Finals.
He learned plenty of tough lessons in the series, which should only make him better as he continues his fast ascent.
“Just for the offseason, I'm over it. I don't think it's like, ‘Oh, shit, we made it there, it's easy.' It's more that we understand what goes into (making) it. Now, we've got to do it,” added the former No. 2 pick, who was named to the All-Rookie First Team.
Harper boldly stated that he can see the Spurs making five more trips to the NBA Finals.
