South Carolina football shook the SEC and College Football Playoff picture by taking down Tennessee Saturday. This win handed coach Shane Beamer his second victory over a ranked foe this season. But the focus, somehow, shifted to a previous 2022 meeting.
Beamer was on the sidelines during that 63-38 walloping over the Volunteers, who ranked No. 6 overall that game. But he ripped the “conspiracy theories” attached to that game.
“It’s disrespectful to our fans who were in the stadium that night, it’s disrespectful to our players and coaches that scored 63 points that night against them that night and held them to 38. I don’t know what conspiracy theories they’re gonna come up with this year,” Beamer said. “Maybe it’s the lights from the state fair or something affected their ability to play.”
Beamer continued ranting away in putting those theories on blast.
“We won the football game in 2022 because we were the better team. I hope we can put that crap to bed. And, we won that game tonight because we were the better football team,” Beamer boldly said.

So the 2022 contest becomes the biggest win of this series for Beamer, who even shared a post about it. This time with South Carolina's Malik Orsan booting the walk-off field goal. But the Saturday victory came following Tennessee's impressive trouncing of Alabama one week earlier.
Furthermore, the upset of the No. 15 Vols lowers the hot seat temperature underneath Beamer's seat. But South Carolina moves to 4-3 overall and are two victories away from clinching bowl eligibility.
