Somebody should check in on Skip Bayless. His beloved team, the Dallas Cowboys, lost to the New York Giants, 28-20, at MetLife Stadium on Sunday despite all the hype, especially about the purportedly improved defense.
The Cowboys were almost single-handedly dismantled by Jaxson Dart, who went 23-of-29 for 230 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also had 11 carries for 54 yards.
Bayless, a diehard fan of Dallas since the 80s, went on an eight-minute monologue to express his disgust at the performance against the Giants.
âÂÂFor once, I just said I can't do it again. I'm sick and I'm tired of driving the preseason hype wagon, bandwagon, right over the cliff,â said Bayless. âÂÂI reversed the score this year. I said I'm not gonna do it anymore. I just can't stomach it anymore.âÂÂ
As in past years, many touted the Cowboys as a contender for the Super Bowl, citing a resurgent campaign for Dak Prescott and an expectedly new defense under Parker, whom Dallas hired as its new defensive coordinator in January. But Bayless said nothing has changed.
âÂÂI would crawl all the way from Los Angeles where I speak right now to Dallas for a Super Bowl. I would. It's been 30 long years. It's taking years off my existence,â added the veteran commentator.
âÂÂThe overreaction to Jerry (Jones) when he hired the next Bill Belichick slash Vic Fangio slash Buddy RyanâÂÂChristian Parker. I kept saying, give the poor man a break. He's 34 years of age. He coached nothing but the secondary under Vic Fangio in Philadelphia, and we hailed him, Jerry hailed him, Stephen (A. Smith) hailed him as the savior!âÂÂ

He acknowledged that Dallas âÂÂate a lot of dirtâ in New York. The Cowboys allowed nearly their average of 30.1 points last season, which was the worst in the NFL.
While it was just one game, Bayless was clear that any loss is unacceptable.
The Cowboys will try to bounce back in Week 2 against the Washington Commanders.
