Star sons Aaryavir Sehwag and Anvay Dravid have been picked in India's Under-19 squad for the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup. Lakshya Raichandani and Yashbardhan Chauhan, meanwhile, will continue to be the captain and the vice-captain, respectively. The tournament will be played from November 4 to 14 in Muscat, Oman.
India go into the tournament on the back of some outstanding results.
Most recently, they blanked Australia Under-19s 2-0 in the four-day series, and 3-0 in the one-dayers in September-October. Prior to that, they beat Sri Lanka Under-19s 1-0 in the series of two four-day matches in Sri Lanka, though they had lost the one-day series there 2-1.
Raichandani was the star batter in the four-dayers against Australia, scoring 250 runs in three innings, including a top score of 240 in the first game. Chauhan, meanwhile, was the best batter in the one-dayers with 176 runs in two innings, including a century in the second game.
Sehwag, a top-order batter, had a sequence of 28, 47 and 34 in the one-day series, while Dravid, also the team's first-choice wicketkeeper, scored 38 and 9 in the two one-dayers he played against Australia after finishing the one-day leg of the Sri Lanka tour with a 67-ball 87.
Of the other players in the line-up, Kushagra Ojha and Manal Chauhan, the top-order batters, and Mohit Ulva, the right-arm medium pacer, have put in good performances in either of the series, with Ulva even scoring 92 from No. 10 in just 84 balls in the first four-day match against Australia.
At the Under-19 Asia Cup, India are in Group A with Nepal, Pakistan and UAE, while Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Sri Lanka are in Group B. The top-two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.
