Kaytron Allen and Saquon Barkley are Penn State legends. Barkley spent three seasons with the Nittany Lions, racking up 3,843 yards on the ground. Meanwhile, Allen spent four seasons with the team. Initially declaring for the NFL Draft, Allen returned to Penn State for a fourth year.

While Allen and Barkley never shared a field in college, the two finally got to do so in the NFL. This led to an incredible moment for the two after the game.

“It’s a blessing that he gave me the jersey. It’s just crazy that I’m even on the NFL field,” Allen said after the game against the Philadelphia Eagles. The two former Penn State running backs met after the contest and swapped jerseys.

Allen is the all-time leading rusher for Penn State, after running for 4,180 yards in his college career. He was selected in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the Washington Commanders. Meanwhile, Barkley finished his college career with 3,843 yards, which, at the time, was second in school history and only behind Evan Royster. While Allen has the school rushing record, he is second all-time in yards from scrimmage, sitting behind Barkley in that regard.

Allen did have to split time with Nicholas Singleton, who was also drafted in the 2026 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. Singleton has the record for most touchdowns in Penn State history, with Barkley second and Allen third.

Now, Allen looks to have the same NFL career that Barkley has had. Barkley is now in his ninth NFL season. He has run for 8,356 yards and 55 touchdowns. He has also hauled in another 2,651 yards in receptions with 16 more scores. Barkley is also a Super Bowl Champion, and was the 2024 NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

Barkley ran 15 times for 83 yards against the Commanders in Week 1, while Allen had four carries for 16 yards. The Eagles took the 24-22 victory after a botched two-point conversion attempt by the Commanders.
