The Denver Broncos are currently gearing up for their upcoming road game vs the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. The Broncos are coming off a home win over the Seattle Seahawks last week, in a game in which quarterback Bo Nix bizarrely refused to throw the ball downfield, although Denver still ended up getting the victory.
After that contest, former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who was an analyst for Prime's coverage of the game, called Nix's performance “almost disrespectful to the quarterback position.”
Now, he has walked back those comments… kind of.
“The line about being disrespectful to the quarterback position, it boiled over, and that’s the one phrase I wish I could have taken back, because I think my criticism was fair,” Fitzpatrick said, per Fitz & Whit, via Sam Neumann of Awful Announcing. “I don’t think the effort and the competitiveness that he’s shown in the past, I don’t think he was showing that at the end of the game. That is somewhere I usually don’t go, but that’s what I felt.”
Indeed, many fans felt the phrasing crossed over into the personal realm, and it seems that Fitzpatrick has now acknowledged that mishap.

The Broncos made a splashy move this offseason to go get wide receiver Jaylen Waddle in an effort to make life easier for Nix tossing the ball downfield, but that new dimension to the Denver offense has yet to materialize thus far.
In any case, the Broncos will next hit the field on Sunday on the road vs the Cardinals.
