Sam Darnold and the Seattle Seahawks visited the Denver Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High on Thursday, looking to make a statement on the road that could provide an important barometer for their progress.
The Seahawks were coming off a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5, with Darnold going 18-of-29 for 195 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions. He was sacked five times. He only had one carry for five yards.
Darnold has had a subpar campaign. Before the kickoff against the Broncos, he was snubbed by Richard Sherman, who was seen hugging Seattle's other players. When asked about it, Sherman kept it blunt.
“Sam Darnold got to earn a hug at this point,” said the five-time All-Pro, as quoted by The Seattle Times' Bob Condotta.
The 38-year-old Sherman helped the Seahawks win the Super Bowl in 2014 as a member of their vaunted defense, famously nicknamed “Legion of Boom.”
Clearly, he cares a lot about the team to this day.
