A decision to yank Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Sonny Gray in the fifth inning of Wednesday's game against the New York Yankees immediately blew up in the face of the visiting team at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

Gray lasted just 4 2/3 innings, as he was replaced on the mound by Erik Miller, who got burned right after by an RBI single from Yankee star Cody Bellinger. The hit drove Austin Wells home for a 2-0 New York lead.
